Solidarity with Cuba also thrives in southern Chile

Santiago, Chile, Nov 18 (Prensa Latina) Solidarity with Cuba remains alive in southern Chile, thanks to the Jose Marti Cultural Association, based in Concepcion, the capital of the Biobio region.

Better known as La Marti, it celebrated its 35th anniversary in July this year, which is slightly more than half the time of the Cuban Revolution, Rodrigo Toledo, responsible for Public Relations at the Association, told Prensa Latina.

Toledo said its work unfolds across several facets, always to support the people of the island and disseminate their values as well as the scientific, cultural, sporting, and social contributions, despite suffering a relentless blockade imposed by the United States for more than six decades.

An important tool in its work is the Nuestra America bookstore, where one can find texts on Latin American history and thought, as well as copies of the extensive works of Cuban Hero Jose Marti.

Considered the largest small bookstore in Concepcion, it sponsored the launch of the books “Fidel Castro, Guerrillero del Tiempo” (Fidel Castro: Guerrilla fighter of Time) and “Todo El Tiempo de los Cedros” (All the Time of the Cedar Trees), by Katiuska Blanco, biographer of the leader of the Revolution.

The Jose Marti Cultural Association actively participated in the 9th Continental Meeting of Solidarity, held in Mexico, in the presence of hundreds of delegates from Latin America, the Caribbean, and other regions worldwide.
