Syria calls for respect sovereignty and rejects Israeli aggressions

Damascus, Nov 20 (Prensa Latina) Syria's delegate to the United Nations, Ibrahim Alabi, reiterated that his country maintains its inalienable right to exercise full sovereignty over its territory and rejected the constant Israeli aggression.

The Syrian media reported that the diplomat, speaking at a Security Council session called to discusse the situation in the Arab country, demanded the United Nations take immediate steps to halt Israeli attacks and ensure compliance with the Disengagement Agreement signed between Damascus and Tel Aviv in 1974.

Alabi denounced Israel’s “aggressive policies,” which include incursions, the establishment of military posts, arbitrary detentions, and the destruction of livelihoods in the country’s southern areas.

He also condemned Tel Aviv for attempting to interfere in Syrian domestic affairs and undermine stability, and denounced what he called a “show of force” by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who visited some Syrian areas occupied by Israeli forces.

The Syrian delegate reiterated his country’s demand that the United Nations and the Security Council take immediate action to halt Israeli aggression, ensure that it is not repeated, and guarantee the implementation of relevant international resolutions, including Resolution 497, which rejects the occupation of the Golan Heights.

The diplomat concluded by underscoring that Syria will defend its sovereignty over its territory and will not accept any interference that affects civil peace. He affirmed that the Syrian people continue to demonstrate “resilience and determination” to build a stable and prosperous future.
