Sudan’s army describes US mediation as biased

sudans-army-describes-us-mediation-as-biased
Khartoum, Nov 24 (Prensa Latina) The Sudanese Army rejected US mediation in the conflict affecting the country, after describing it as biased in favor of the paramilitary forces, official sources stated.

Sudan’s top military commander, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan criticized the latest peace proposals for Sudan presented by Washington, and said they benefit the so-called Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the United Arab Emirates, which they consider its support.

Al-Burhan noted that the US proposal eliminates the presence of the Armed Forces and calls for the dissolution of all security agencies, leaving rebel militias in their territories. He deemed the proposal unacceptable, as it is a clear call for the division of Sudan.

Al-Burhan also vowed that the Armed Forces are determined to retake Darfur and large areas of the neighboring Kordofan region, the current epicenter of the fighting between the warring parties.

Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has been embroiled in an internal war, following a power struggle between Army Chief, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the RSF leader, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.
