The Sudanese Government described on Tuesday as a political maneuver the announcement made by General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, the leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which directly contradicts the harsh reality of the atrocities committed by his forces on the ground.
Sudanese Information Minister Khaled Ali recalled the RSF’s crimes in Al Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, which the paramilitary forces seized in October.
In a speech broadcast on Sunday, Sudan’s top military commander, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, criticized the latest peace proposals for Sudan presented by Washington, and said they benefit the RSF and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which they consider its support.
Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has been embroiled in an internal war, following a power struggle between Army Chief, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and RSF leader, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.
