Spanish sculptor Xavier Mascaro to exhibit his art in Cuba

Havana, Nov 26 (Prensa Latina) Spanish sculptor Xavier Mascaro is finalizing the details of a new exhibition in Cuba, which will open at the National Museum of Fine Arts (MNBA) in Havana on December 4.

Entitled “Xavier Mascaro: Archaeology of the Present,” the artist will feature a collection of paintings and sculptures dated between 2014 and 2025 in the temporary exhibition hall on the first floor of the Universal Art Building.

The institution’s Facebook page states, “Reflections on memory and tradition go beyond more than 30 pieces, certainties of his interest in moving away from historical narratives to challenge knowledge as the exclusive domain of the European and Western canon.”

Considered one of Spain’s most internationally renowned artists, Mascaro has exhibited his art in France, Argentina, Mexico, the United States, Colombia, and Austria.

The collection comprises a dozen sculptures in iron, copper, and aluminum, along with more than 20 acrylic drawings on paper, cardboard, and canvas.

“Xavier Mascaro: Archaeology of the Present” will remain open to museumgoers until March 1, 2026.
