US continues interference in Haiti’s political life

Port-au-Prince, Nov 26 (Prensa Latina) The United States government has imposed visa restrictions on Fritz Alphonse, a member of Haiti's Presidential Transitional Council, who was threatened by the US Embassy in the Caribbean nation.

“As soon as we began to examine the possibility of changing the head of government, Alix Didier, several members of the CPT began receiving threats of visa cancellations and other sanctions from the representatives of the US and Canadian missions,” Alphonse explained.

“They—referring to the diplomats—made it clear that if we didn’t give in, we would face sanctions and the cancellation of our visas.”

“We remain steadfast in the fight against corruption, the hijacking of the state by a few individuals, and the operators involved in drug trafficking, the proliferation of weapons and ammunition,”Alphonse stated, as quoted by the newspaper Le Nouvelliste. Washington accuses Jean of supporting gangs and other criminal organizations classified as terrorist groups by the country.
