At a meeting held in the diplomatic headquarters, Syrians and Cubans recalled the massive expressions of affection and respect expressed by the Syrian people following the death of the Cuban leader, as well as the admiration that continues to arouse his figure.
Participants highlighted Fidel’s role in strengthening relations between Cuba and Syria, as well as his influence on the island’s ties with third world countries.
They also underlined his legacy of solidarity, his strategic vision and his permanent defence of the sovereignty of peoples.
A statement by the Association of Syrian Graduates of Cuban Universities was also released, which expressed its “deepest homage” to the Commander and highlighted the indelible mark he left on generations of young Syrians trained in Cuba under the principles of social justice, equality and international cooperation.
The document recalled the support given by Cuba to Syria and other nations of the Global South, even in the most difficult moments, and stated that Fidel’s ideology remains alive in the Syrian professionals who graduated on the island.
The Association reaffirmed its commitment to continue strengthening the ties of brotherhood between the two peoples, inspired by the example of the revolutionary leader and his conviction that justice, Peace and human dignity can only be achieved through unity and solidarity among nations.
