The high-ranking Russian official also praised, during the 19th Meeting of the Russia-Venezuela High-Level Intergovernmental Commission, the South American nation’s desire to become a dialogue partner of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Chernyshenko underscored, “We welcome this interest and can inform that the applications are currently being reviewed by the association’s member states.”
He also highlighted the importance of working together in international forums such as OPEC+, the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, and the Group of Friends in Defense of the United Nations Charter.
Held in a hybrid format, the meeting was co-chaired by Chernyshenko and Venezuelan Executive Vice President Delcy Rodriguez.
Due to the event, the parties signed 18 bilateral documents on cooperation in several areas, as well as the final act.
