More than 100 Palestinians are serving life sentences in Israel

Ramallah, Dec. 4 (Prensa Latina) The Prisoners' Press Office reported that 114 Palestinians sentenced to life imprisonment are languishing in Israeli jails.

The organization, linked to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), stated in a press release that 28 are from the West Bank governorate of Hebron, 21 from Nablus, and 17 from Ramallah.

The group denounced the torture and mistreatment committed in Israeli prisons and warned that the situation will worsen as a result of Israel’s continued declaration of a state of emergency and its policy of abuses.

This week, the Commission on Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners announced that Israel has arrested some 21,000 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since the outbreak of the current cycle of violence in October 2023. A few days ago, Hamas accused prison authorities of killing more than 90 prisoners since then.

This figure shows the criminal approach that has turned these centers into extermination camps to wipe out our people, Hamas asserted.

Hamas denounced “the inhumane violations to which our brave prisoners are subjected,” as evidenced by eyewitness accounts and reliable reports from Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

Among the abuses cited were severe beatings, burns with boiling water, dog attacks, and sexual assault.

This month, the Israeli NGO Physicians for Human Rights revealed the deaths of at least 98 Palestinians in Israeli detention centers.
