Colombia plans to establish direct flights with Russia

Moscow, Dec 28 (Prensa Latina) Colombia plans to explore the possibility of establishing direct air service with Russia, the South American country's ambassador to Moscow, Jorge Ignacio Zorro, announced.

“We plan to raise this with the Colombian Civil Aviation Authority, discuss this possibility with the airlines, and determine how feasible it is to establish direct air service between our countries,” Zorro said in an interview with the Sputnik news agency.

The diplomat specified that a meeting between Colombian representatives and several Russian companies took place last October, and this topic was among others discussed.

Currently, among Latin American countries, Russia has direct air connections with Cuba and Venezuela.

On November 1, a new direct flight route operated by the Venezuelan airline Conviasa between Caracas and the Russian city of St. Petersburg was inaugurated at a ceremony held at Simon Bolivar International Airport in Maiquetia.
