Cuba commemorates centenaries of Fidel Castro and Alfredo Guevara

Havana, Dec 31 (Prensa Latina) “Fidel Castro and Alfredo Guevara: Stories of the Revolution” is the title of the exhibition opening to the public in the lobby of the Charles Chaplin Cinema in Havana, in homage to the centennial of the two great Cuban intellectuals.

The photographic exhibition, also commemorating the 67th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution tomorrow, January 1, captures historical moments of the friendship between the two leaders and their joint work for the development of cinema and culture in this Caribbean nation.

The exhibition was inaugurated in the presence of Minister of Culture Alpidio Alonso; the Deputy Head of the Ideological Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Elier Ramírez; the President of the Cuban Gilm Institute (ICAIC), Alexis Triana; as well as artists and representatives of the Cuban government and cultural sector.

The enduring relevance of both leaders’ thinking underscored the tribute paid in the context of the December 31st celebration of the 100th anniversary of Guevara’s birth.

Guevara was the founder of ICAIC and the creator of other important projects linked to the advancement of Cuban and Latin American cinema, all of which enjoyed the support of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro.
