The 89-year-old researcher has dedicated her life to the study and safeguarding of Cuban art, training generations of specialists and promoting the protection of tangible and intangible heritage.
The Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba also expressed its recognition of the award recipient, emphasizing her academic rigor, commitment to artists in all their diversity, and her role as a “school of best practices” in the cultural sphere.
The 2025 National Cultural Heritage Award joins other accolades received by Ruiz, including the National Cultural Research Award (2014), the National Culture Distinction, the Alejo Carpentier Medal, and the Giraldilla of Havana.
