In a meeting with workers at Puerto La Cruz Refinery in Anzoategui state, the deputy discussed the reasons for and contributions of the changes to the legal framework and listened to the opinions of workers and managers in the industry. “We listened to your input on this legislation, which aims to increase oil production in order to convert it into hospitals, roads, and decent wages for workers,” the legislator wrote on his Telegram account.
Rodriguez emphasized in the debate that the “primary objective” is to adapt to a situation that allows for the extraction of oil from the land that belongs to all Venezuelans.
B The Speaker of Parliament cited Article 12 of the Constitution, which states that “mineral and hydrocarbon deposits, whatever their nature, existing within the national territory, under the seabed of the territorial sea… are public domain property and, therefore, inalienable and imprescriptible…”.
The politician stated that the difference lies not in how the oil is extracted, but in “what you do with that money,” because in the past, hydrocarbons were extracted to enrich a few, and some so-called “die-hard Chavistas” also stole that money.
With this debate, the National Assembly initiated a public consultation process to enrich the discussion in the legislative chamber, which will continue next Tuesday with a second reading of the legal regulations by the ruling party and opposition blocs.
