SANA news agency stated that the meeting will address ways to develop bilateral relations, as well as the situation in the Middle East region.
The Kremlin confirmed the visit and specified that the agenda includes an analysis of the current state of relations between the two countries and their prospects in several areas, in addition to an examination of the regional situation.
This trip marks Al-Sharaa’s first visit to Moscow following the recent events in northeastern Syria and the clashes between the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the army, which resulted in the government taking control of the Raqqa and Deir Ezzor governorates, as well as large areas of Aleppo and Hasakah.
The Syrian president made his first visit to Russia in mid-October 2025, accompanied by several ministers, and was received by Putin at the Kremlin Palace.
