The leaders and members of this organization, which emerged in this European nation 65 years ago during the days of the US mercenary invasion of the Bay of Pigs, condemned President Donald Trump’s recent attempt to prevent fuel shipments to the island.
The thousands of ANAIC members, grouped in hundreds of local chapters throughout Italy, pledged in the statement to maintain their fraternal support “with all their strength” to confront what they describe as “the most serious act of aggression against the Cuban people.”
They point out that, based on the false accusation against Cuba of posing an alleged “unusual and extraordinary threat” to the United States, the US president signed an executive order under which he can impose tariffs, of indefinite amount, on all countries that supply him with oil.
The real threat to the stability and peace of the Caribbean region and the entire world, they assert, is the Trump administration, “which no longer has any qualms about transgressing and ignoring any norm of international law and of civil and peaceful coexistence among nations.”
This cruel measure, which further intensifies the criminal economic, commercial, and financial blockade against the Caribbean nation, has “the explicit characteristic of aspiring to genocide.”
For these reasons, the ANAIC “makes an urgent appeal to all those individuals, movements, and unions who cannot allow this latest infamous threat from the United States government to materialize, to mobilize in order to guarantee maximum moral and material solidarity with the Cuban people.”
