In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it considered this an essential step for the stability of Syria, with a view to ending the violence, moving towards a definitive cessation of hostilities, and greater access to humanitarian aid.

At the same time, the statement reiterated the Spanish government’s firm commitment to a peaceful, inclusive political transition that fully respects the rights of all Syrians, without exclusions or discrimination.

“Only a process that listens to all parties and guarantees the effective participation of Syrian society as a whole can lay the foundations for lasting peace,” it stated.

Furthermore, it emphasized the importance of preserving the unity and territorial integrity of Syria, essential principles for the country’s reconstruction and for regional stability.

Spain will continue to support international efforts aimed at stabilizing Syria and the entire region, the statement concluded.
