Argentine political parties condemn Trump’s actions against Cuba

Buenos Aires, Jan 31 (Prensa Latina) The Communist Party (PCA) and the Liberation Party (PL) strongly condemned President Donald Trump's executive order that intensifies the economic war against Cuba to extreme levels, including a strengthening of the oil embargo.

To justify such extreme measures, the US president used the tired pretext of declaring the small neighboring country an “extraordinary and unusual threat to the security of the United States,” which is far from the truth, the PCA clarified.

“This escalation of aggression is part of the criminal embargo that the Cuban Revolution has suffered for more than six decades, intensified with Trump’s return to the White House, who now seeks to extend coercion and sanctions to those countries that, exercising their sovereign right, wish to trade oil with Havana,” the PCA stated in a press release.

Washington is now attempting to intensify its attacks in the region and completely suffocate Cuba with a renewed and more violent Monroe Doctrine,” warns the political organization, the second oldest in Argentina.

Meanwhile, the Liberation Party and the Solidarity Working Group One Thousand for Cuba, from Cordoba, warn in a joint statement that the direct economic damage caused since President John F. Kennedy formalized the blockade in 1961 until 2025 has amounted to $170.677 billion, as shown by Cuba before the United Nations General Assembly.

“This blockade is the primary cause of the suffering of the 11 million Cubans.” And in the height of cynicism, Washington, and especially the Miami exile community, lie by claiming that the blockade doesn’t exist and that these obstacles and crises in the Cuban economy are inherent to the socialist system,” the statement emphasizes.

PL and Mil por Cuba maintain, firstly, that “the accusation that Fidel’s country is a threat to the U.S.” and secondly, “the illegal and unilateral imposition of tariffs on countries that trade with Cuba shows that the blockade truly exists and is the cause of the power outages, fuel shortages, transportation problems, and many other deficiencies.”
