Former Honduran minister rejects US attack on Cuba

Tegucigalpa, Feb 1 (Prensa Latina) Former Honduran Minister of Strategic Planning Ricardo Salgado strongly condemned the latest escalation of aggression by the United States against Cuba, which reinforces the economic, financial, and commercial blockade imposed on that country.

“We firmly reject the criminal attack by the North American empire against the heroic sister Republic of Cuba, an example of dignity, sovereignty, resistance, and solidarity for all the peoples of the world,” Salgado wrote on his social media account.

The Planning Minister during the Xiomara Castro administration stated that the new US aggression is part of the “infamy built up over 65 years against a people (the Cuban people) who decided never to be slaves again.”

According to Salgado, this onslaught transcends all known limits and forms and has entered the phase of strangling Cuba, driven by the vile interests of a “fascist power that abandoned the island long ago and now seeks to devastate it forever,” he denounced.

Along these lines, the former minister called for international solidarity with Cuba in the face of this new attack by the northern power.

“This is the moment when we, the people, must overcome our ruling classes and build a wall of defense for Cuba,” declared the leader of Libre, the party led by former Honduran President Manuel Zelaya (2006-2009).

“Cuba is not and will not be alone; even despite our own oligarchies so subservient to imperial power,” emphasized Salgado, who concluded his message with a resounding “Long live the Cuban Revolution!”
