Lula promotes advances in Brazil’s health services

Brasilia, Feb 6 (Prensa Latina) Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is scheduled to visit the state of Bahia today, where he will focus on expanding and modernizing the services of the Unified Health System (SUS) through a federal program.

According to the official agenda, the main event will take place at the Salvador Agricultural Exhibition Park, the site of one of the largest medical equipment delivery ceremonies of 2026. The day will include the delivery of 107 ambulances from the Mobile Emergency Care Service to 76 municipalities in the state, with the aim of strengthening the response capacity to medical emergencies in urban and rural areas.

Also, 32 Mobile Dental Units will be distributed, which will expand dental care coverage, especially in hard-to-reach areas.

As part of the investment package, 1,030 equipment kits will be delivered to Basic Health Units (UBS), benefiting 402 municipalities and improving primary care infrastructure with state-of-the-art clinical and diagnostic technology.

Telehealth kits will also be distributed to facilitate remote connections between health services and remote communities, promoting remote consultations and diagnoses.

Another item on Friday’s agenda is the delivery of the first surgical kits, intended to expand hospitals’ capacity to perform general and ophthalmological surgery procedures.
