Malaysian government supports education and training reforms

Kuala Lumpur, Feb 6 (Prensa Latina) Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim highlighted today his government's support for education and training reforms, in line with the changing demands of the contemporary labor market.

During the Malaysia Economic Forum 2026, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, the Prime Minister emphasized that the government has allocated more than US$21.3 billion from the annual budget to the education sector as financial support.

According to Anwar, this allocation reflects the country’s firm commitment to promoting flexibility, mobility, and lifelong learning.

These reforms respond to a labor market already in transition, where skills must be updated, careers are evolving, and workers require support at different stages of their lives, he stated.

As the president emphasized, education today must equip Malaysians not only with knowledge, but also with adaptability, resilience, and the confidence to face change, and further development cannot be envisioned if this reality is ignored.

The finance minister also affirmed that the reforms are designed to support workers as their careers evolve and skills require continuous updating.
