“I read the Epstein files every day with incredible effort. It is hell,” Zakharova posted on her Telegram channel.
The diplomat questioned why a global investigation has not been carried out, given the international trafficking of children.
The Foreign Ministry spokeswoman commented that the United Kingdom, Poland, Lithuania, and other countries so far announced that they will launch their own investigations into human trafficking.
Zakharova added, “Washington should have followed this sign when it began investigating Epstein’s crimes.
They had an obligation to alert Interpol and Europol. They should have sounded the alarm, given the magnitude of this hell.”
Epstein was arrested by New York State law enforcement on July 6, 2019.
The criminal proceedings against the US financier was suspended after his suicide in prison on August 10, 2019.
Among his associates were former President Bill Clinton and current President Donald Trump.
