In a statement released today by Radio Okapi, they indicated that the figure corresponds only to the territories of Beni and Lubero, with the latter being the most affected, with 52 victims in just one month.
The ADF attacks also caused considerable material damage, including a burned-down health post, 67 shops and 10 houses destroyed, 23 motorcycles burned, and the destruction of a community meeting place.
Faced with this increase in violence, which has caused the exodus of thousands of families, civil society demanded that the central government urgently reassess its security strategies in the region.
“These displaced people are in precarious humanitarian conditions, fleeing attacks characterized by extreme cruelty.
Civil society reports that fear is preventing residents from returning to several towns considered high-risk areas,” they added.
The trail of death left by the ADF so far in 2026 also extends to Ituri province, where nearly 30 people have died in the villages of Apakulo, Ahombo, and Mangwalo, belonging to the Walese Vonkutu chiefdom.
