“We will use the available channels of dialogue with the Americans to clarify this situation,” Peskov stated.
The Kremlin spokesperson argued that Moscow has investments in the South American nation, as well as long-term projects.
He stated, “Our Venezuelan partners are interested, and so are we, so all of this is a pretext for discussions with the United States.”
Peskov’s remarks come in response to the decision recently announced by the administration of US President Donald Trump to prohibit transactions involving Venezuelan oil with companies from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Cuba, Iran, and Russia.
US Secretary of Treasure Scott Bessent affirmed at the time that Washington would manage the sale of Venezuelan oil and “other resources.”
