“We are in contact with our Cuban friends. Cuba is unfortunately far from us; it is not easy to get there, but even so, we will discuss possible ways to assist with the Cubans,” Peskov told reporters, without specifying the kind of assistance his nation is considering.
The Kremlin spokesperson also added that, in Moscow’s view, Havana faces serious difficulties due to the hostile actions of the US Government, which is “stifling” the Caribbean nation.
He stated, “The problem there is not fuel. The problem is the US blockade. I do not think it is right for one country to stifle another and its people.”
The spokesperson noted that “when there is no fuel to deliver medicine, when there is no fuel to transport patients urgently by air, it is something very bad.”
Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov previously denounced the neocolonial pressure stances imposed by Washington on Havana and Caracas, and reaffirmed Russia’s solidarity with the people of both nations.
