Economist Imad Labad denounced the consequences of the Israeli aggression against the coastal enclave, home to more than two million people.
Labad told Shehab news agency that such a percentage practically means the cessation of production and the collapse of local demand, as well as the inability to create any added value within the area’s economy. The expert affirmed that the United Nations’ warnings of Gaza’s complete dependence on international aid are not a political description, but a tangible numerical reality.
Labad explained that the cost of rebuilding Gaza is estimated at around 70 billion dollars, not including indirect damages such as the loss of human capital, the emigration of skilled workers, and the erosion of productive expertise.
