“The implementation of such plans will lead to a sharp escalation of the conflict and create direct threats to the security of our country, as well as the entire European region,” the Federation Council (the upper house of the Russian Parliament) stated.

The Senate described any such agreement reached outside of national legal procedures as an “irresponsible conspiracy” and warned that it “could have catastrophic consequences.”

Furthermore, the parliamentarians warned that, according to Russian nuclear doctrine, an attack by a non-nuclear state backed by a nuclear power will be interpreted as a joint attack.

“The people of the United Kingdom and France will inevitably be involved in the danger zone as well, since London and Paris cannot ignore that, according to the Nuclear Doctrine of the Russian Federation, aggression by a non-nuclear state with the support of a nuclear power will be considered a joint attack,” the legislative body’s statement emphasized.

Furthermore, the senators, in a declaration, urged the UN Security Council, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, and the French and British Parliaments to conduct investigations as part of their mandates.

For his part, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov denounced the delivery of a nuclear bomb to Kiev as a flagrant violation of international law.
