Spokesman Lin Jian questioned the national security reasons cited by London to block a plan by the Chinese group Mingyang Smart Energy to build a wind turbine factory.
The spokesman noted that green trade cooperation between China and the United Kingdom is based on mutual benefit and shared gains.
This cooperation should not be hampered by excessive politicization or widespread securitization, the spokesman pointed out.
The spokesman expressed hope that the British side would provide a fair, equitable, and non-discriminatory business and investment environment.
This environment should apply to companies from all countries, including Chinese companies, Lin Jian added.
Wind energy is a strategic area for international cooperation in the global energy transition. China leads the world in the manufacture of renewable energy equipment and maintains technological exchanges with numerous international partners.
According to official data, China is the world leader in the generation and consumption of energy from renewable sources, as well as the main producer and exporter of solar panels, wind turbines, electrolyzers, heat pumps, batteries, and electric vehicles.
