“Work in this area will continue without fail,” Peskov said, commenting on the latest prisoner-of-war exchange between Russia and Ukraine under the “500 for 500” formula, carried out on March 5 and 6, as well as on humanitarian efforts.
Addressing the topic of negotiations on the Ukrainian crisis between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine, Peskov commented that the work of the trilateral group “is paused.”
However, he added that Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, who leads the Russian delegation to the Russia-United States working group on economic issues, is focused on bilateral relations with the United States and has held several meetings with representatives from Washington.
According to the Kremlin spokesman, the two groups are working separately, as they have different agendas.
So far this year, the negotiating teams from the United States, Russia, and Ukraine have held three rounds of talks in an attempt to find a political solution to the crisis.
The first two rounds took place in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, in January and early February, respectively.
The third and, so far, most recent round was held in Geneva, Switzerland, on February 17 and 18.
