Iran accuses US of hiding its troops in hotels
Tehran, March 27 (Prensa Latina) The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, accused the United States of hiding its troops in civilian facilities such as hotels and parks.
In a message posted on the social network X, the leader questioned Washington’s ability to protect its forces, noting that “it cannot even protect its own soldiers at its bases in the region.”
Ghalibaf made these statements in response to reports about alleged US plans to launch a ground offensive against Iran.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the Pentagon is considering sending approximately 10,000 additional troops to the Middle East, which would expand President Donald Trump’s military options in the context of negotiations with Tehran.
These troops would join some 5,000 Marines already deployed in the region, as well as thousands of soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division, although their locations were not specified.
The outlet also previously indicated that Washington was preparing to send around 3,000 troops from that unit, considered a rapid reaction force of the U.S. Army.
Meanwhile, Trump announced a 10-day postponement of a possible attack against Iranian energy facilities, setting the new date for April 6.
