“I am making a renewed appeal to the parties to the conflict, the entire international community, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), led by its Director General, to prevent any aggressive actions in the area of the operating nuclear reactor,” the official stated.
The reactor remains operational, the Iranians desperately need it, and it is vital for the plant’s electricity supply, Likhachev declared.
Given the complexity of the armed conflict and the potential for provocations, the Russian official urged all parties involved to make efforts to avoid risks and an escalation surrounding this operational nuclear facility.
On April 4, Iran reported another attack in the area near Bushehr nuclear facility.
A projectile landed near the plant, killing one of its security guards; however, the main facilities were not damaged, according to Iranian sources.
Commenting on the incident, representatives of the organization stated that attacks on nuclear power plant facilities and adjacent areas are unacceptable, as they house equipment critical to nuclear safety.
