According to messages disseminated on the Telegram social network, the attack targeted the facility that houses a US military presence.
Some of these factions released audiovisual material showing what appear to be flames inside the base, accompanied by messages alluding to the action against what they describe as the “US occupation.”
So far, neither US nor Iraqi government authorities have issued official statements on the incident.
The event occurs within a context of growing regional tension, marked by attacks against US interests in several Middle Eastern countries.
Iran has stated that it is targeting what it considers Washington-linked targets in Arab nations such as Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, and Iraq, in response to the joint US-Israeli military offensive.
Since February 28, this conflict has resulted in thousands of deaths and injuries in Iran, while Tehran responds by launching missiles and drones into Israeli territory.
