Havana, April 18 (Prensa Latina) Mirko Casale, director of the political satire program "Ahi les va" on the Russia Today channel, spoke with Prensa Latina about the 5th edition of Patria International Colloquium.

“I’m very happy to be here. I’ve experienced overwhelming joy because, although I knew it was a well-known program in Cuba, I’ve found a great reception. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I have a children’s audience on the island,” he said.

“For us, it’s an honor and a privilege to be at this prestigious event, which we’ve known for some time. Very interesting and well-prepared people attend, and we feel a responsibility to come and share our experiences,” he added.

Regarding work on social media, he stated that what’s truly important is to differentiate oneself from other creators and put an individual stamp on one’s content.

He also addressed fake news and its most dangerous variant: narratives. “Narratives are what most affect public opinion. Taking the Cuban reality as an example, the hook would be the difficulties the people face, which aren’t false, but the narrative relies on saying it’s Cuba’s own fault, that the embargo is unimportant,” he explained.

“We’re in a generational shift where traditional media haven’t disappeared, but they’re losing relevance in the lives of young people. It’s important to stay informed about what they’re watching. We must find a balance so that the content appeals to different age groups,” he concluded.
