Laos calls for end to US blockade and blackmail policy against Cuba

Vientiane, Apr 20 (Prensa Latina) The Laos-Cuba Friendship Association and the Laos Alumni Group demanded the unconditional lifting of the blockade and the cessation of the blackmail policy of the US government against that Caribbean nation.

In a statement issued, both organizations condemned the “endless intensification of the brutal, illegal, and criminal US blockade to extreme levels, along with the current energy embargo and the constant threats of aggression” by the Donald Trump administration.

The statement expresses deep concern for the difficult situation currently faced by the Cuban people and reiterates its condemnation of the illegitimate genocidal policy maintained by successive US administrations for more than six decades against an independent, sovereign, and socialist Cuba.

In light of the unfolding and alarming events and the dramatic situation facing its people, peace-loving and justice-minded friendship organizations from all corners of the globe stand in support of the Island, knowing that, as National Hero Jose Marti said, “whoever rises up with Cuba today rises up for all time.”

In this centennial year of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, we reaffirm our traditional support for the recent declaration by the Revolutionary Government of Cuba on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Bay of Pigs, the statement emphasizes.

“Now more than ever, we continue to call on the United States to abandon its policy of blackmail and intervention and to lift its criminal blockade unconditionally,” the text concludes, adding that “a well-prepared, united, and revolutionary people will never be defeated.”
