The decision came during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, following Tehran’s refusal to participate in any talks with Washington’s representatives at this time due to a lack of guarantees of a genuine willingness on the US side to resolve the conflict.
The participants held detailed deliberations on the diplomatic impasse, primarily following the attack on an Iranian cargo ship and its seizure by US forces, the blockade against Iranian ports, and the escalating threats against Iran from President Donald Trump.
Sources cited by The Nation stated that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed on his recent contacts with envoys from both the United States and Iran, offering a view on their respective positions and concerns.
The newspaper’s report also covered Pakistan’s ongoing informal diplomacy efforts, which aim to ease tensions and revive talks.
Pakistan has intensified, since Sunday, its diplomatic contacts with Washington and Tehran in an attempt to ensure that the talks continue.
