The diplomat expressed this position during his address to a special session of the Security Council on the Response Plan and Humanitarian Needs for Syria in 2026.
He also warned of what he described as Tel Aviv’s continued aggressive policies and stated that Israel is maintaining hostile actions, including the expansion of settlements in the occupied Golan Heights and the intensification of attacks, which, he denounced, include the kidnapping of civilians and the use of chemical weapons.
Furthermore, he maintained that Israeli forces are using occupied Syrian territories as a platform to launch attacks against Lebanon, in an attempt to escalate the conflict in the region.
The representative emphasized that his country’s stability is a key element for regional balance and called for respect for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In this regard, he stressed the need to prevent the use of Syrian territory for external aggression and to strengthen state control over its entire territory, while also asserting that Damascus is working with its allies to consolidate stability.
According to recent reports, Israeli military actions in southern Syria have increased in recent months, including incursions, the detention of civilians, and the establishment of checkpoints.
This situation unfolds amid persistent bilateral tensions, while indirect contacts between the two sides continue, progressing with difficulty due to disagreements over the Israeli presence in Syrian territory.
