In a statement, the diplomatic mission highlighted the “act of revolutionary reaffirmation to support” the call made by the island’s president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, in a context also marked by threats from Washington.
With each worker’s signature, the statement added, the “commitment to the socialist character of the Revolution and support for the Declaration of the Revolutionary Government, which demonstrates the Cuban people’s firmness and willingness to defend their sovereignty, as well as their commitment to peace,” was made clear.
“#MySignatureForTheHomeland for #Cuba with our President, for peace and sovereignty, against the energy embargo and the blockade, and for the well-being of the Cuban people,” expressed Eugenio Martinez, the Cuban ambassador to Havana, on the same social media platform.
Diaz-Canel declared that the movement is an act of defense against imperial harassment and threats.
“As a free, sovereign nation, and sole master of its destiny, Cuba denounces the attempt at suffocation that has reached its cruelest expression through the genocidal blockade and demands respect for the free choice of our political system,” the president stated on X.
He also affirmed that in this initiative, each signature constitutes a call to the conscience of the world.
From one end of the largest of the Antilles to the other, and also Cubans who live and work abroad, are joining My Signature for the Homeland these days.
