Monica Valente, executive secretary of the Sao Paulo Forum (SPF), told Prensa Latina, in the context of the three-day event that concluded in Brasilia on Sunday, that the meeting marked “a significant moment” for the political force.
Valente noted that the meeting served as a platform to build programmatic unity leading up to the election and establish a strategy to confront the far right, represented by the family of former President Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2023), whose eldest son, Flavio, is a presidential candidate.
The SPF executive secretary added that participants also discussed how to continue rebuilding the country, rescuing social policies, and Brazilian sovereignty.
She mentioned that the party meeting also addressed the complex global context, marked by wars, and specifically referred to the United States’ aggression against Venezuela, the threats against Cuba, the war in Iran, and Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
Valente emphasized that the issue of sovereignty, self-determination of peoples, and peace is a matter for Brazil and the world.
