The Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs (EB) within the US Department of State confirmed on its X profile that Bolivian Mining Minister Marco Antonio Calderon de la Barca took advantage of a trip to the United States to sign a document of intent.
The text reads, “Assistant Secretary Caleb Orr and the Bolivian mining minister signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on critical minerals in Washington and discussed cooperation on critical minerals.”
To date, neither the Bolivian Ministry of Mining’s website nor its social media accounts have released any information on the matter.
However, the US source added, “the United States is committed to working with Bolivia under the leadership of President (Rodrigo) Paz to attract investment that will boost prosperity in both the United States and Bolivia, and secure supply chains for critical minerals.”
These types of minerals and rare earth elements are essential in a global context that is moving toward electromobility from an energy matrix viewpoint.
