The campaign, which benefits infants from one month to three years of age, will have a second phase from June 15 to 20.
According to Fernandez Aguilera, administering the drug aligns with international immunization frameworks and will allow for the resumption of vaccination schedules such as Heberpenta, Neumosil, and MMR for children who are behind in their vaccinations.
The Expanded Program on Immunization in Cuba maintains a coverage rate exceeding 98% nationwide.
This national strategy, which administers 17 vaccines (12 of which are produced domestically), has successfully eliminated diseases such as diphtheria, measles, and polio, which posed serious public health challenges before 1959.
