Cuba’s Camerata Cortes presents making-off for the album Nueva Era

Havana, May 13 (Prensa Latina) Flautist Orlando "Maraca" Valle and the Camerata Cortes presented the making-off video for their first album, Nueva Era, produced by the Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales (Egrem) in conjunction with Producciones Colibri.

Directed by Marah Gangora, the video privides an intimate look at the creative process of the musical group, composed mostly of female flautists.

“There are no guest artists on the album, precisely because I realized during our own concerts that what we need is to make the camerata known worldwide,” Valle explained.

The making-of video includes testimonials from various people involved in the project, such as the Camerata’s representative, Juana Isabel Cabrera, its founder, Guillermo Pedroso, the executive producer, Elsida Gonzalez, and flautists Yamily Amador and Liz Claudia Morales.

The album, which has already garnered five nominations at the Cubadisco Awards, is a tribute to the legacy of Maestro Cortés, founder of the eponymous Camerata.

Nueva Era’s curatorial approach included a selection of pieces by Mozart, Richard Egues, Bach, Jos Luis Cortes, and Maraca Valle himself, among others. According to the orchestra’s director, the album should convey a message, a journey, and a story, all narrated through these pieces.

Maraca Valle also announced a sixth nomination for the documentary “Flutes with the Scent of Women,” dedicated to the history of the Camerata, a unique group in Cuba, conceived as a flute orchestra to provide employment opportunities for young graduates of art schools.
