The call issued by this solidarity organization states that “we believe a united mobilization with the Cuban people is urgently needed, and therefore, this demonstration, with the theme ‘Cuba for Peace,’ is being held.” Dozens of organizations, parties, associations, and unions will join the protest against US military aggression.
“In the current context, we urge everyone to remain on high alert for a swift operation in defense of Cuba within our country, with immediate mobilization in case of attack,” the document states.
Therefore, “we call on all progressive, democratic, pacifist, and solidarity forces to unite in a broad front against any type of aggression in Cuba,” and at the same time, “we demand an end to the US blockade” against the island. This economic, commercial, and financial blockade “is in full effect a collective and unilateral punishment against a peaceful country that has only exported solidarity and is not a threat to any other country.”
This is the second demonstration of its kind held in Italy in recent months, following the one on April 11 in Rome, which brought together more than 10,000 protesters who marched from the Colosseum along San Gregorio, Aventino, and Piramide Cestia avenues, to Plaza Ostiense.
