This pilot program will bring together companies from several sectors, the academy, the State, and civil society to boost the responsible use of these technologies.
It will also aim to develop tools for their adoption and become a benchmark for discussing public policies related to AI.
The UN agency and the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technologies (CUTI) presented the project together with representatives from the government, the academy, and the managerial sector.
Gisselle Burbano, head of the Social and Human Sciences Sector at UNESCO Montevideo, noted that the initiative arises in a context in which the business adoption of these technologies is advancing faster than governance mechanisms.
Burbano announced that the Uruguayan experience will be presented at the upcoming regional summit of AI authorities and at the Global Forum on AI Ethics to be held in Saudi Arabia.
