Members of the solidarity group in Los Angeles urged a halt to any planned actions against the Caribbean nation and keep the support for the Cuban people during this time.
Mark Friedman commented, “We are coordinating numerous rallies in several cities in defense of the Cuban people. It is time to acknowledge all that Cuba has done for the world.”
Most Americans oppose a US war on Cuba, just as they oppose the current war on Iran. “It is up to us to channel this feeling, organize it, and give it a voice,” the call underscored.
The CodePink peace organization warned over the weekend that President Trump is recklessly escalating tensions with Cuba and preparing for a possible military action against the Caribbean nation.
“We must stop this madness,” the group said in a message on social media. “Cubans, not politicians in Washington, nor hardliners in Miami, should decide the future of Cuba.”
CodePink rejected the Justice Department’s proposed indictment of Cuban leader Raul Castro “while (Trump) tightens the brutal blockade and prepares for an invasion.”
