Poetry Festival in Cuba expands to Dulce Maria Loynaz Center

Havana, May 26 (Prensa Latina) The Dulce María Loynaz Cultural Center in Havana is finalizing details for the first reading of the 32nd Havana International Poetry Festival, next Wednesday, May 27.

The event will bring together writers from Kenya, Peru, Mexico, El Salvador, the United States, Italy, Ecuador, and Spain in a space open to the public that seeks to foster dialogue and interaction with contemporary poetry.

The first panel will feature four National Literature Prize winners: Miguel Barnet, Nancy Morejón, Waldo Leyva, and Virgilio López Lemus, who will share the stage with invited poets from various countries, the center revealed on social media.

The former residence of the late Cervantes Prize laureate, a regular venue for important literary events, emphasized that this reading marks the beginning of a program that will extend throughout the city and reaffirms the Festival’s international focus.

The event is part of the central activities of the poetry festival, dedicated this year to the centenary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and to the works of José Lezama Lima and Rainer Maria Rilke, in an effort to link tradition and contemporary life in Cuba.
