“Such arbitrary measures constitute a further step in the unprecedented aggressive policy of the United States with the aim of justifying armed aggression against Cuba,” the French historian and essayist told Prensa Latina.
These measures contravene the fundamental principles of international law and are illegitimate, he affirmed, referring to the restrictions also imposed on relatives of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raul Castro, and on several companies on the island.
They are part, he added, of the network of punitive measures adopted by the United States over several decades, but especially since the current administration of Donald Trump.
Furthermore, these restrictions illustrate the United States’ inability to recognize that Cuba is a sovereign entity, separate from that northern nation, and independent; hence this cruel indoctrination, the specialist emphasized.
The international community has a duty to denounce these new aggressive measures, as this constant affront to international law cannot be tolerated, nor can these new violations of a people’s sovereignty be accepted, he affirmed.
