Zanganeh told Fars that the average fee charged to vessels using this strategic waterway ranges from 1.5 million dollars to 2 million dollars per ship.
The legislator stated that payments can be made in cash, through cryptocurrencies, or by delivering goods, the value of which is deducted from the transit fees.
The news agency noted that these levies could generate annual revenues of up to 7.5 billion dollars for Iran.
The statements come amid heightened tensions in the region following the conflict that began on February 28 among the United States, Israel, and Iran, which, according to Tehran, has killed more than 3,000 people.
