India prepares for BRICS Summit in September

New Delhi, Jun 8 (Prensa Latina) India, which holds the BRICS presidency this year, is preparing for the Summit scheduled for September, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri affirmed at a recent event on neuroscience organized by the intergovernmental bloc.

Misri also noted at the 3rd BRICS Neuroscience Symposium, the first to be held in the South Asian nation, that international collaboration is of increasing importance in the face of complex challenges that require the sharing of knowledge and resources.

The diplomat affirmed that BRICS represents a platform where developing countries and emerging economies can collaborate and pool their expertise.

The foreign secretary expressed confidence that the discussions held during the symposium would contribute to the group’s broader objectives.

Neuroscientists, clinicians, researchers, and academicians from the BRICS countries and extended nations participated in the event held at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), which also featured the participation of Professor Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India.

Organized by the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre (SGBC) at IIT Madras under the theme “Expanding Neuroscience: BRICS and Extended Nations,” the symposium focused primarily on expanding cooperation in neuroscience research and neuro-technologies within the intergovernmental bloc.
