The Council of State of the Republic of Cuba convened the 3rd special session of Parliament in its 10th Legislature for this Thursday afternoon.
Parliament President Esteban Lazo stated that the meeting will aim to assess the “Proposals for Economic and Social Transformations,” announced a few days earlier by First Secretary of the PCC and President Miguel Diaz-Canel.
Army General Raul Castro, leader of the Cuban Revolution, endorsed, in a message sent to the Party’s plenary session, the proposals for economic and social transformations.
PCC Political Bureau member Jose Amado Ricardo Guerra informed the meeting that Raul had been consulted and was in full agreement with the proposals.
Guerra stated that the Cuban leader, who participated in the meeting via videoconference, “is convinced that the best ideas always emerge from collective analysis and even from disagreements.”
Raul called for participation in this crucial meeting to enrich its content and build the necessary consensus at this pivotal moment to undertake the proposed transformations: “This is what is most beneficial for the Revolution today,” he affirmed.
