Data from the Comptroller General’s Office between January and October 2025 noted that more than 200 Haitian children entered Chile for alleged family reunification, and 64 remain missing.
The transfer was conducted via charter flights departing from Haiti and stopping in the Dominican Republic. In some cases, a single adult brought more than 30 children on the flight.
In light of these revelations, UNICEF urged the State institutions involved in the immigration and foreign affairs system to clarify the situation and the whereabouts of those children as quickly as possible.
An expanded meeting, convened by President Jose Antonio Kast, will take place at La Moneda Palace to discuss the issue.
The presidents of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate have confirmed their attendance at the meeting.
