Cuban Workers’ Confederation begins Congress

Havana, Jun 26 (Prensa Latina) The 22nd Congress of the Cuban Workers' Confederation (CTC) begins via videoconference with all the country's provinces in sessions marked by the complex context on the island.

The current conditions dictate that the final days of the meeting, on June 26-27, be austere and rational, reflecting the circumstances and challenges of the moment, but with important decisions for the present and future of the working class of the Caribbean nation.

The meeting, convened under the slogan “For Cuba, Together We Create,” addresses the defense of the homeland, along with proposals to help boost production and Cuban businesses.

The priority at this point is to analyze the government program, especially the economic and social transformations, with 176 recently approved measures.

For their implementation, the preparation and participation of workers and their union leadership on administration decisions will be essential, as well as monitoring companies experiencing financial losses.

The workers’ congress in Cuba takes into account the concerns of its members regarding wages and the erosion of their purchasing power due to high prices, among other issues.

The members of the Organizing Committee of the Congress, chaired by Osnay Colina, affirmed that the event comes at a time when Cuba is experiencing complex, tense, and stifling times, with shortages of all kinds, but lamenting or surrendering has never been part of this people’s history.
